We’re looking for a hands-on IT Systems & Network Administrator to manage and improve our IT infrastructure across two connected sites. You’ll work independently but have full support from leadership and outside vendors when needed. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a secure and scalable network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize reliability and uptime
- Manage and support Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments, and user workstations
- Oversee Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365 administration
- Collaborate with leadership to identify, procure, and deploy IT and networking assets
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST 800-171 and CMMC 2.0
- Implement and maintain network segmentation, VPNs, and encryption protocols
- Manage data backup, disaster recovery, and endpoint protection systems
- Support licensing and connectivity for engineering tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, and MATLAB
- Develop automation scripts (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or Ansible) to improve system efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (MS preferred)
- 5+ years of experience managing enterprise or small-company IT/network infrastructure
- Strong proficiency in both Linux and Windows Server environments
- In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and switching
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, and SSO
- Familiarity with NIST 800-171 / CMMC 2.0 compliance requirements
- Proven ability to work independently as a one-person IT department
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
- Networking certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent
- Experience managing High-Performance Computing (HPC) or lab network environments
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or DevOps workflows
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ansible) for automation and system management
- Knowledge of MySQL or relational database management
